President Trump’s executive order on cryptocurrency was meant to push forward regulations for the digital asset markets, with the first step being to create a cryptocurrency working group. It will be charged with proposing not only regulations but also determining how to create a national cryptocurrency stockpile. With the lead comments in the USA TODAY story, FrontLine’s Founder and President Amy Lynch discusses the significance of the executive order. She states that with the order, cryptocurrency and digital assets are being given legitimacy by the federal government. Once the regulations are in place, Ms. Lynch explains, then cryptocurrency transactions in the US will multiply exponentially. She adds that establishing a digital stockpile could be deemed a type of reserve that equates them to commodities, similar to gold. Once a detractor of crypto, Trump has now gone into the business himself, issuing digital trading cards and meme coins. Ms. Lynch notes how this shows Trump fully backs the use of cryptocurrencies while also revealing another way for the president and his family to monetize the industry to their financial benefit.
