FrontLine Compliance Founder and President Amy Lynch recently joined the BBC News show “Business Today” for a live interview to discuss the US strategic reserve of cryptocurrencies. Ms. Lynch explains that a primary purpose of the strategic reserve would be to add credibility to the crypto asset industry and to diversify US assets and stockpiles. However, during the interview, she points out that many questions remain about how the crypto reserve would be utilized. If the reserve is traded and used in transactions, it could exert pressure on the US dollar and create a competitive market. Further, exactly how the reserve would be funded and how quickly that could happen is also at question. Ms. Lynch stresses the conflicts of interest that exist in determining the objectives of the strategic reserve and new regulations, as the individuals involved are dominated by crypto industry participants with few represented from regulators.
