FrontLine’s Amy Lynch advises firms to be ready for SEC visits (ThinkAdvisor)

For the remainder of this year, firms can expect the SEC to conduct more exams with an onsite component. With the lead comments in the ThinkAdvisor story, FrontLine Compliance Founder and President Amy Lynch is featured in the piece centered on FrontLine’s regulatory commentary informing the industry of the SEC’s latest exam trends. Ms. Lynch explains how an increasing pace of SEC exams means a busy time for compliance over the next several months. Firms ill-prepared will be caught off-guard, with the only question being when and for how long the SEC will be onsite. Ms. Lynch adds that the SEC is under pressure to increase the number of exams completed for FY 2024, which explains recent staff changes made in the Division of Exams and an urgency brought on by the upcoming election. There is a strong focus by the SEC on new and proposed rules and visiting firms that have not been examined within the last four years. Ms. Lynch recommends that firms move quickly to conduct comprehensive compliance reviews via an evaluation or mock SEC exam, and to include mock interviews with key staff members so that there are no surprises during actual SEC interviews.
