The crypto industry has been energized to forge ahead with expansive growth plans following the re-election of Donald Trump as president. Trump’s pro-crypto stance has provided the industry with optimism that policy and rule roadblocks will be softened or removed to promote greater growth and investment from the US institutional market. You would expect the creation of a main market regulator for crypto assets by the Trump administration, comments Amy Lynch, FrontLine Compliance Founder and President. Should that happen, she further states, it would likely be the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), leading to fewer controls around the markets despite a regulatory body in place. Becoming a “risk-on environment” that would lead to large fraud cases seems to be where it is headed, adds Ms. Lynch, and that could mean faster settlements and fewer of the enforcement type cases we have been seeing from the SEC.
