With many issues to tackle, SEC must choose priorities (CNBC)

With numerous rule proposals to consider, plus a lengthy list of hot topic regulatory items, the SEC  is deciding on priorities and determining its first moves. SEC Chairman Gary Gensler has highlighted focus areas across the industry spectrum, including those related to ESG, trading activities and investor protection, among others. In an interview with CNBC, FrontLine’s Founder and President Amy Lynch explains that the SEC’s rule proposal process can take time and requires an agreement among a majority of commissioners that is political in nature. One thing is clear from the SEC’s messaging, increasing the use of disclosures is a common theme being discussed with much of its regulatory agenda.
